MIS export for Arbor, SIMS, Bromcom
Download a per-pupil mastery CSV from any class. One file, the columns your MIS expects, ready for upload by an admin who knows their way around Arbor or SIMS. Trust offices can batch-export all member schools as a ZIP.
What’s in the CSV
Nine columns, one row per pupil per export. UTF-8, RFC 4180 line terminators, no BOM, no surnames — just the fields an MIS marksheet column expects.
| first_name | last_initial | anonymous_pupil_id | accuracy_pct | words_mastered | attempts_count |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Olivia | M | 7c3e8a04… | 78 | 47 | 89 |
| Aarav | P | 3f2b5d77… | 64 | 38 | 77 |
| Maya | W | 9a118c2d… | 91 | 52 | 80 |
| Ezra | K | 2d6f0aa9… | 55 | 29 | 73 |
| Hattie | B | 5e8a7c12… | 82 | 49 | 84 |
Rendering shows six of the nine columns; the on-the-wire CSV adds range_from, range_to, and school_id. The full sample file is below.
Sample CSV
A synthetic eight-pupil sample with the exact byte shape you’d see from a real export. No real school data — names and UUIDs are made up.
pupil_first_name,pupil_last_initial,anonymous_pupil_id,accuracy_pct,words_mastered,attempts_count,range_from,range_to,school_idHow to upload
The first time, your school admin spends ten minutes mapping our anonymous_pupil_id to the MIS pupil identifier (UPN for Arbor / SIMS, Admission No for Bromcom). After that, every subsequent export reuses the same VLOOKUP and uploads in seconds.
- Open Arbor → School → Assessments → Custom Assessments.
- Pick the assessment template you set up for spelling mastery (or create one with columns Accuracy %, Words mastered, Attempts).
- Click Import → CSV and pick the Spell & Grow file.
- Map columns: anonymous_pupil_id → UPN (after VLOOKUP), accuracy_pct → Accuracy, words_mastered → Words mastered, attempts_count → Attempts.
- Confirm. Arbor reports rows imported and any rejected pupils.
- Open SIMS → Tools → Performance → Assessment → Manage Marksheets.
- Open the marksheet for your spelling assessment (or create one — SIMS marksheets accept ad-hoc numeric columns).
- Use Import (top-right toolbar) → CSV file.
- Map columns: UPN (post-VLOOKUP), Accuracy % column, Words mastered column.
- Save the marksheet. SIMS validates the values and flags out-of-range cells.
- Open Bromcom → Modules → Assessment → Marksheet Import.
- Pick the marksheet for your spelling assessment.
- Click Import CSV.
- Map columns: Admission No (post-VLOOKUP), Accuracy %, Words mastered.
- Bromcom prefers DD/MM/YYYY for dates — re-format the range_from / range_to columns in Excel before upload if your column type is date-strict.
Where to find it in the portal
Visible to school_admin and approved class_teacher roles on /classes/[id]. Date-range presets match the rest of /reports.
Trust-admin only on /mat. Hard cap at 50 schools per ZIP, 60-second budget.
Privacy posture
- • No surnames in the CSV — first name plus a last initial only. The MIS-side mapping uses our anonymous pupil ID, not personal data.
- • No UPN, no DOB, no admission number. Spell & Grow doesn’t collect those — you augment the CSV with your MIS’s pupil identifier once per pupil, then reuse the mapping forever.
- • Audit trail. Every export emits a UUID-only audit event (
class.mis_exportortrust.mis_export) with the date range and pupil count — never pupil names, never the row contents.
